Greig Memorial Library has served our community well for nearly 100 years. Founded in 1930 after the Greig-Post family gifted the home to the city our library has historical roots. Our story begins with the Post family. Philip Sidney Post was a local judge, and his wife Janet Greig Post was a woman truly ahead of her time. A graduate of Knox College in 1890 she went on to become the first female member of the Knox College Board of Trustees. She was instrumental in raising funds to preserve Old Main on the Knox campus, which is the home of the Lincoln-Douglas debate. Janet’s love of education extended after her death when she gifted her home to the city with the only stipulation being that it serves the community as a library! Our love of education and literacy continues on, and we seek your support to uphold this legacy!
